Weekend Warrior

I have cool roommates who do really cool things, to which they invite me. This weekend we went to a painting class and out for Korean food.

This is a masterpiece already.

This place is called "Paints and Cocktails." They highly encourage drinking while taking the class.  I think it helps people accept that they can't paint like Van Gogh. I drank water from my water bottle but I think people assumed I had a really strong cocktail.

I like to keep 'em guessing.

The studio is really cute and bright.  With a really cute and bright English artist walking us through the process.

It's next to the liquor store.  Apparently, the painting class gets discounts.

See? We're done!

I actually ate a bite of this raw steak and raw egg combo.  Thinking about it still freaks me out.
Here's my daeji tofujigae, a soup with pork and tofu, zucchini, onions... and whatever else is in there.

Just a snapshot of the menu for fun.

Almost done.

Obviously, this is out of order but I don't know how to fix that yet. Bear with me.

So, yeah. I painted a thing that I don't want to hang on my wall and ate some food I'm glad I tried, but wouldn't order again. Not bad for one weekend. I took a very yoga approach to the whole thing. I kept telling myself that whatever I could do was enough and everyone was there for different reason.  Next week - 5K! (Walk, not run)

For starters...

Hi, friends. I'm finally doing it.

I'm starting a blog so I can show off the cool things I'm going, seeing, eating, or reading.
For starters, I love the Oxford comma. I will love it til the day it dies.

Most of you are already privy to my FB posts and pics, so I won't bore you with how much I'm studying or which tests I have when. Only extracurriculars can make it here. Bear with me; blogland is undiscovered territory.
Apparently, picture uploads happen in whatever order they feel like popping up. Here's an awesome farmer's market Joe and I found when he was here for a few days.
My awesome roommates took me to see gators for my birthday in August. That's Sarah's hair and Jeni's arm and a gator in the water.

Here's my new school.  That's a giant cross on the building in the middle. I always forget that I go to a Catholic university. Nothing religious is mandatory.

We have a new kitty in our apartment, Riley. We're not best friends yet. Possibly ever. But things are better than they were.

Ah, yes. My second day of school was the last for my new car. I'd had it for four months and was actually glad that 1) I wasn't hurt. It could have been bad... 2) I don't have to drive stick anymore.

See? Joe was here!

I had my window smashed out and my mom's purse stolen from the trunk within 24 hours of getting here. A blessing in disguise, really. I upped my car insurance just two weeks before my car was totaled. My refund was actually more than I paid for the car.

So, that's a quick recap of my life since I came to Florida. From here on I'll be posting random things sporadically. Like this one:

^I'm assuming that worked. It's a great research project to study implicit responses to groupings of words and pictures. Fascinating.
